I.  I John 3:8 - He that committeth sin is of the devil;  for the devil                 sinneth from the beginning.  For this purpose the Son of God was          manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

     A.  We see Satan who is the devil, has his main dealing with sin, we also see               that people that willfully practice sin is of the devil.

     B.  But the Son of God was manifest for a purpose and this purpose is to                      two-story the works of the devil.

     C.  The word manifest means, (to appear, to make one known, to make visible,             to reveal) when Jesus appears in one's life and makes himself known, as                 Lord of that life, the work's Satan or destory in that life.

     D.  (N.I.V.) I John 3:8  He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the                devil has been sinning from the beginning.  The reason the Son of God                     appeared was to destory the devil's work.

     E.  The greek word, (luo) which is translated destory, means = to undo; loosen;             release; to set free.

     F.  The purpose of Jesus coming  was to undo what Satan has done, the                       number one thing to undo in one's life is sin.

     G.  John 1:29  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith,                   "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world".

     H.  Taketh away = GR.  (AIRO) to bear in the sense of removing sin; doing away            with the guilt and punishment.

      I.  Matthew 1:21  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name              JESUS:  for He shall save His people from their sins.

      J. The purpose of the Son of God coming into this world according to these two            scriptures was and still is, to take away the sin of the world, and to save His            people from their sins; taketh away sin; saved from sin.

II.  Satan's purpose for your life is found in John 10:10

     A.  John 10:10 - The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to                        destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have life,               and that they might have it more abundantly.

     B.  So Satan comes to steal; to kill; to destroy.

     C.  But Jesus comes to give us life, and give it more abundantly.

     D.  Satan comes to steal, but Jesus comes to give back what has been stolen.

     E.  Satan comes to kill, but Jesus came to raise the dead.

     F.  Satan comes to destroy.

     G.  Jesus came to undo each and every work of Satan.

III.  Let us look at some of the work of Satan

     A.  In John 8:44 -  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye             will do.  He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth,               because there is no truth in him.  When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of                his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it.

          1.  We see he is a murderer.

          2.  He did not abide in the truth.

          3.  There is no truth in him.

          4.  We find he is a liar.

          5.  And the father of the lies.

     B.  Revelation 12:10 - And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, now is come               salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his                 Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them                before our God day and night.

          1. Satan is the accuser of the brethren.

     C.  II Corinthians 4:4 - In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of               them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is             the image of God, should shine unto them.

          1. We see by this verse that Satan blinds minds.

     D.  II Corinthians 2:11 - Lest Satan should get an advantage of us:  for we are                not ignorant of his devices.

          1.  We see he can get an advantage of us.

     E.  Acts 10:38 - How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and              with power:  who went about doing good, and healing all that were                           oppressed of the devil;  for God was with him.

          1.  We see Satan can oppress us.

     F.  I Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a                   roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

          1.  We see him seeking for someone to devour.

     G.  Luke 13:16 - And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham,                     whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond             on the sabbath day?

          1.  He has some bound in the above verse.

     H.  And the list goes on and on.

      I.  But glory to God, JESUS came to undo what Satan has done.

     J.  Satan thought he had us, but then came Jesus, and he came to destroy the            works of the devil.  I John 3:8
