DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK
ASK HIM

(1) John 16:23-24
23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

  (a) Whatsoever you shall ask God in the name Jesus
  (b) God will give, God will give it to you
  (c) Ask - and you shall receive

(2) God is a good God! He desires to give all good things to us if we will just ask him

(3) Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

(4) God gives good gifts to who? Those that ask!

(5) Asking is Petition

(6) Jesus paid for salvation for everyone, but it can only be received by asking

(7) Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

(8) The gift of salvation and the fullness of the Holy Spirit, as well as all the other gifts, are available through petitioning prayer.

(9) James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

(10) God is willing to give to his children, but we must participate in the answer to our needs by asking.

(11) How can we get our prayers of petition answer

I. We must ask in faith

(1) Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

II. We must abide in a relationship with Christ

(1) John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

III. We must be motivated properly

(1) James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
IV. We must ask according to God's will

(1) 1 John 5:14-15
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
