PUTTING THE DEVIL ON THE RUN


James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

(1) He will flee from you, the devil will flee from you

(a) Strong's Greek Number 5343 = Greek word: pheugo fyoo'-go
KJV - flee 26 - escape 3 - flee away 2 [Total Count: 31]
1) to flee away, seek safety by flight
2) metaph. to flee (to shun or avoid by flight) something abhorrent, esp. vices
3) to be saved by flight, to escape safely out of danger
4) poetically, to flee away, vanish

(b) So we see Satan will seek safety by flight, flight meaning to run away from, Glory to God, the devil will seek safety from you by running away from you

(c) The word also means to shun or avoid by running away from you

(d) Flee also means to escape safely out of danger

(e) When the Church takes it's rightful place in Christ, the devil will shun or avoid by running away from you

(f) When the Church is full of the Spirit of God, the devil will escape safely out of danger by running away, for you are a danger to him when you know who you are in Christ Jesus

(g) By this definition, we see that most Christian are living way below the power that Jesus has deliver to the Church.

MAKING IT WORK

(1) Now we know that we are suppose to put the devil on the run, how do we do it, how do we make it work

(2) Do you want to know, do you really want to know

SUBMIT

(1) James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

(2) The first thing we see is = Submit yourselves to God

(3) Submit = to give in to somebody's authority, control, or demands

(4) So we are to give into God's authority, His control, His demands

(5) To submit to God is one of the most effective to put the devil on the run

(6) If you want to put the devil on the run learn to submit to God

RESISIT

(1) James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

(2) Now we see resist the devil

(3) Resist = to stand against,

(a) Fight against somebody or something: to oppose and stand firm against somebody or something

(b) Refuse to give in to something: to refuse to accept or comply with something

(4) By these definition we see, we are to stand against the devil

(a) We are to take a stand, we stand for God, we stand against the devil

(b) We fight against the devil, we oppose and stand firm against him, he is the enemy

(c) We refuse to give into the devil 

(d) We are to resist the devil if we are to put him on the run

(5) James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

(a) To many live this way, Submit yourselves therefore to the devil. Resist God

(b) This will produce the wrong person staying around

(c) Quit fighting God, submit to Him

(d) Quit submitting to the devil, fight him, oppose him, refuse him

WHO'S CONTROL

(1) When we are under God's control

(2) We can resist the devil

(3) And that my brothers and sisters, will put the devil on the run
