OVERCOMING UNBELIEF
(1) Matthew 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
HOW TO OVERCOME UNBELIEF
(1) Matthew 17:20-21 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. [21] Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
(2) Mark 6:6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
(3) So we see from these two verses three things that will help us to overcome unbelief
1. PRAYER
2. FASTING
3. TEACHING
(a) PRAYER = Brings us into the presence of God
(b) FASTING = Makes us aware of God's presence
(c) TEACHING = Lets us know what we can accomplish in God's presence
WHY DO WE NEED TO OVERCOME UNBELIEF
(1) Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
(2) Hebrews 3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
(3) Hebrews 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
(4) Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
(5) Let us labour in
1. PRAYER
2. FASTING
3. TEACHING OR LEARNING
I. PRAYER (1) Without prayer nothing happens in the spiritual realm
(2) Mark 9:23-24 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. [24] And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. |
