FIGHTING THE RIGHT FIGHT (I)

1 Tim. 6:12
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

(1) The fight we are to fight, is the good fight of faith

(2) We don’t even have to fight with the devil, or demons

(3) Luke 10:19-20
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
[20] Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

(a) The Church has power, I said the Church has power, not that the Church had power, the Church still has power over all the power of the enemy

(b) Now the enemy is subject to the Church, notice I said now the enemy is subject to the Church, not yesterday’s Church, not tomorrow’s Church, the Church of today

(c) Behold now is God giving power to his Church, He was yesterday God but yesterday is gone God is not, He will be God tomorrow but tomorrow is not here, God is here now, Jesus is here now, the Holy Spirit is here now

(4) We don’t have to fight the enemy he is defeated, but we do sometimes

(5) Ephes. 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

(a) Sometimes we wrestle with the enemy when we should be enjoying the victory

(b) Sometimes we wrestle with flesh and blood

(c) Sometimes we wrestle with the household of faith

(d) In Ephes. 6 Paul saw the fight and taught; How to win the fight

(6) Today I want the Holy Spirit to teach us how to fight the right fight

FIGHTING THE RIGHT FIGHT

(1) 1 Tim. 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

(a) We are in a fight - agon, Greek 73, Strong’s
agon, ag-one'; from Greek 71 (ago); properly a place of assembly (as if led), i.e. (by implication) a contest (held there); figurative an effort or anxiety :- conflict, contention, fight, race.

(b) I see so little fight in a lot of God’s children, as Strong’s said effort, and a lot of times when I do see effort it is effort at the wrong thing; the wrong fight if you will

(c) Lord help us today to fight the right fight

(2) In Isaiah 53:1
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

(a) Or who has faith in our report, or who among you today will put froth effort today to have the arm of the Lord reveal to you today

(b) The arm of the Lord revealed; is receiving the blessing of the promise of the Lord; and that is revealed to those who believe the report

(3) Sometimes we have to fight for the report because Satan comes to steal the report that God has sent our way

(4) Mark 4:14-20
The sower soweth the word.
[15] And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
[16] And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
[17] And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
[18] And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
[19] And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
[20] And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

(5) Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

(a) Three things Jesus paid for
1. Our sin
2. Our peace
3. Our healing

(6) Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

(a) Now sometimes you hope for things, so what is your substance of this hope, what has brought your heart to this hope, FAITH, faith in the Word Of God is your substance

(b) Now you don’t see it so what is your evidence; your evidence is FAITH, faith in the Word Of God is your evidence

(c) Your substance of things is God has spoken; your evidence of things is God has spoken

(d) Now your faith has substance; God has spoken, God has promised

(e) Now the Red Sea will roll back and God’s people will walk across dry land, I said will not maybe; God’s people will walk on a dry seabed

(f) Now your faith has evidence; God has spoken, God has commanded

(h) Now the Red Sea will come back together and God’s enemies will drown

(7) Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

(8) About our sin; Hath He said, Hath He spoken
2 Cor. 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
About our sin; shall He not do it; shall He not make it good

(9) About our peace; Hath He saith, Hath he spoken
In John 20:19 peace be unto you 20:21 peace be unto you 20:26 peace be unto you
About our peace; shall he not do it; shall he not make it good

(10) About our healing; Hath He said, Hath He spoken
Matthew 8:16-17
When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
[17] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
About our healing; shall He not do it, shall he not make good

(11) Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

(12) Now faith is God has said, and He shall do it

(13) Now faith is God has spoken, and He shall make it good

(14) The right fight is refusing to let go of what God has said, promised, or commanded
