2 Timothy 1:6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

(1) The first mistake that is made here is this, some are thinking that this one or that one needs to stir up his self or her self.

(2) John 21:21-22

21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?

22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.

(3) Turn your eyes inward God has a word for you tonight.

(4) The second mistake that is made here is that some are sitting here tonight thinking, that there are people here thinking, that I need to stir myself up.

(5) Get your eyes off these people and get your eyes back on Jesus.

(6) Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

(7) Turn your eyes inward God has a word for you tonight.

(1) 2 Timothy 1:6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

(a) [Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands] Wherefore -- on account of your true faith and consecration, I remind you to stir up the gift of God that is in you.  Be faithful even in afflictions according to the power of God in you (2Tim. 1:6-8).  The gift is referred to as a fire, which, if not frequently stirred up and more fuel added, will go out.  The Greek for "stir up" is anazopureo (GSN-329), to kindle up the fire; to add fresh fuel to it.  Only here.
