OVERCOMING UNBELIEF (3)
(1) Matthew 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
(2) Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
(3) Mark 6:5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
I. DEALING WITH MY UNBELIEF
(1) Jesus said in Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
(2) So Jesus said unbelief goes out by prayer and fasting, how do we know he is talking about unbelief remember the verse before this one
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
(3) Now let us look at what Jesus did when He came up angainst unbelief
Mark 6:6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
(4) Because of their unbelief, He went about teaching
(5) PRAYER FASTING TEACHING
PRAYER
(1) Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
(a) Prayer needs to be done in secret
(2) Matthew 6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
(b) Don't pray to be seen of men, it is not wrong for men to see you praying, it is wrong for you to want men to see you praying
(3) Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
(a) Prayer needs to be believe, what needs to be believe in prayer, WHAT THINGS SOEVER YE DESIRE (b) So we see here the very simple way to receive is to believe that we have the thing we ask for, then we shall have what we have ask for
(c) Sometimes it hard for people to believe that they have what they have asked for when they cannot see it, it is called faith
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
(d) This is where teaching comes in, this is what Jesus is doing teaching how to receive from God
(e) Desire healing believe that you have receive your healing and you shall have it, you got to believe you have it before it is manifested in your body
(f) The same goes for anything else you desire in your heart, you will have to believe that you have it, before it will manifest itself in your life
(4) Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
(a) Faint = Strong's Greek Number 1573 = (1) to be utterly spiritless, to be wearied out, exhausted
(b) Faint = Vine's = "to lack courage, lose heart, be fainthearted"
(5) Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
(a) Sometimes we need help in our prayer this is why we need sometimes the Holy Spirit to pray for us, sometimes we don't know how to pray, even for things in our life
(b) If we can get back to praying Not my will but thy will be done, the Spirit of God will always pray God's will
(c) We need to trust God
(6) Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
(a) Here is another way to overcome unbelief = praying in the Holy Ghost
(b) Praying in the Holy Ghost = builds you up on your most holy faith, when you are build up and your holy faith is build up, unbelief dies
(7) Romans 4:17-21 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. [18] Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. [19] And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: [20] He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; [21] And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
(a) Notice God calls those things that be not as though they were in verse 17
(b) What does this mean preacher
(c) It means that if your body needs a healing and it is not there that if you will believe God He will call healing into your body
(d) It means that if you have a need and it is not there and you believe God, He will speak it into existence (e) In verse 18 we find Abraham against hope believed in hope
(f) Faith is the substance of things hoped for (g) In verse 19 we see he was not weak in faith
(h) In the worlds eyes all hope is gone, in the child of God's life he or she can stand against hope and believe in hope
(i) In the worlds eyes the Red Sea has God's people trapped, but God rolled back the Rea Sea, don't be weak in faith believe God
(j) In verse 20 we see he staggered not at the promise of God
(k) Now understand our faith has got to be in what God has promised
(l) Also he was strong in faith giving glory to God, so many people miss out on what God has promise because they have to blame someone or something, help us Lord to get back to giving you glory
(m) In verse 20 he was fully persuaded, what was he fully persuaded in, that what God had promised He was able to perform
(n) Are you persuaded in what God has promised
(8) 1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: [15] And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
(a) In verse 14 we have confidence that He hears us, if we ask His will, learn the Bible it is His Word, it is His Will
(b) In verse 15 we learn that if He hears us we have the petitions that we desired of Him
(c) Learn to pray according to the word and see God answer your prayers |
