OVERCOMING UNBELIEF (6)
FASTING
(1) Matthew 17:20-21 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. [21] Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
(a) Let us get back to believing the word of God, Jesus said because of your unbelief
(b) Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
(c) God says because of your unbelief, man says I don't have any unbelief, who is lying, God tells the truth, man is a liar, now a lot of men they don't know they are lying, but when we go against God's Word, then we are found as liars
(d) Man says in God's time, God says behold today is the day
(e) Man says if it is God's will to heal me he will, God says he will all in his Word, with his stripes you were healed
(f) Let us refuse any statement that is not the Word
(2) Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
(a) Now that we believe the Word again, we can deal, kill, and overcome unbelief
(b) How does the Word say we can overcome unbelief, by prayer and fasting, don't disagree with the Word, be a doing of the Word, you cannot be a doing if you disagree
(c) Understand this is how God set his ways up, there are some things that only God can do, there are some things in the Word that man can do such as pray and fast
(d) If man will do his part, God will do His part
(e) God did not make it all mans responsibility, neither did God make it all His responsibility
(f) Mans responsibility is to believe what God's Word says, believe and obey
(g) God's responsibility is to make His Word work, to those who believe and obey
(3) Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
(a) Can we walk with God, if we agree with Him we can
(4) Matthew 6:16-18 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. [17] But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; [18] That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
(5) 2 Samuel 12:15-23 And Nathan departed unto his house. And the Lord struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick. [16] David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth. [17] And the elders of his house arose, and went to him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them. [18] And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead? [19] But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead. [20] Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the Lord, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat. [21] Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread. [22] And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me, that the child may live? [23] But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
(6) Psalm 69:10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
(7) Psalm 35:11-14 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. [12] They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. [13] But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. [14] I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. |
