BEING COMMITTED

2 Tim. 1:12-15

   For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

[13] Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

[14] That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

[15] This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

Commitment

John 8:30-32

   As he spake these words, many believed on him.

[31] Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; [32] And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Commitment to the Word

My commitments to the Lord should come from the Word

After all the commitments that one makes from the Word are the commitments the Lord wants from us

  

Committed people look for what they can do for God; for their Church

Uncommitted people look for what God or a Church can do for them

Two things will build commitment in our lives

Trust, and Love

When we trust and love the Lord and His word will commit

Hebrews 10:25

   Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Committed to the assembling

The assembling being the Church

Malachi 3:8-11

   Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

[9] Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

[10] Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

[11] And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

Commitment - In tithes and offerings

Romans 10:17

   So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Commitment – to hearing

James 1:22

   But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Commitment – to being a doer

John 8:30-32
